Happy Valentine’s Day from the Bagel Bakery

The chocolates and jewelry and teddy bears are always a fun Valentine’s Day treat for your loved ones, but this year, give them something less predictable that they can’t just add to a collection.

At the Bagel Bakery, we make homemade, fresh bagels daily, but we also make chocolate chunk cookies and muffins that are sure to spread the message of love this Valentine’s Day. And you can get a special heart-shaped bagel for the price of a pizza bagel while supplies last.

Also, we want each of you to know that this Valentine’s Day, we celebrate you for your constant love and support of the Bagel Bakery. We wouldn’t be where we are without you, which is why we are proud to consider all our customers our valentines.

Happy Valentine’s Day from the Bagel Bakery, we hope to see you at the store soon!

Celebrate National Bagel Day with the Bagel Bakery

Celebrate National Bagel Day this Saturday with us at the Bagel Bakery.

We at the Bagel Bakery are so excited to celebrate National Bagel Day, which is this Saturday, February 9. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate than with us! With over 15 different bagel types, not even including our bagel sandwiches, the Bagel Bakery is the perfect place to get your bagel fix not only for National Bagel Day, but every day! After a week full of craziness and stress, you deserve nothing more than to treat yourself to a delicious breakfast and to be surrounded by great people. While you may know a lot about the bagels we offer at our store, you probably don’t know these facts about your favorite breakfast treat.

The history of the bagel can be traced back all the way to 1610 and hasn’t stopped gaining popularity since! The name bagel actually originated from the German word, bougel, meaning bracelet. They are shaped this way because:

1.) it was easier for distributors to carry them on poles to sell them, so they slipped the pole through the bagels’ holes, and

2.) To help with the airy and chewy consistency that bagels have.

We hope that you stop by and celebrate with us this weekend! We are open from 7 am to 3 pm this Saturday. Be sure to share your National Bagel Day festivities with us on social media using the hashtag #nationalbagelday and tag us @bagelbakerygainesville.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving began in the 16th century as a way for the Pilgrims to thank the Indians for all of their help with getting adjusted to life in America, but has evolved to be about so much more.

Today, American families gather on Thanksgiving to spend time together, celebrate all they are thankful for, watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and then football and eat an unhealthy amount of turkey.

This year, the Bagel Bakery has decided to host a contest to see which family embraces the Thanksgiving spirit the most. In order to enter the contest, post a picture of your Thanksgiving on either Facebook or Instagram and tag the Bagel Bakery in it. We will choose the winner on Friday by 5 p.m. The winner will get $30 in Bagel Bakery money to spend on anything in the store!

The judges (Bagel Bakery staff) will look favorably upon smiling faces, cute animals and Bagel Bakery bagels included in the picture!

Happy Thanksgiving, from our Bagel Bakery family to you.

Bagelsaurus Rex’s Friend is MISSING

fred the frog

For about one week, Bagelsaurus Rex was even happier than usual with his life as the Bagel Bakery’s mascot because he had a friend. A small, green and playful frog came to keep Bagelsaurus Rex company. His name was Fred; Fred the frog.

It was one week of playing, laughing and eating an unlimited supply of delicious bagels for these two forever friends. They both thought the fun would never end until Monday. Bagelsaurus Rex came back from his shift of quality-checking the bagels only to see that his bug-eyed, hoppy friend was GONE.

Bagelsaurus Rex has not been the same since his pal went missing. We have sent search parties and taken all of the necessary precautions to recover the missing piece of our Bagel Bakery family, but have not had any luck yet!

We are offering a free bagel and endless love from Rex to whoever can make us whole again and bring Fred back to us.

Stop by the Bagel Bakery today for more information on how you can help us find Fred.

The Bagel Gets Some Respect

Apple has upgraded bagel emoji

Finally! The bagel gets some respect!

That’s right. Apple has finally seen fit to upgrade what was clearly an inferior emoji, the new emoji has a doughier consistency and is accompanied by a modest layer of cream cheese. So a wrong has been righted – to a degree.

This new emoji almost looks like a real bagel, and it is a far cry from the previous image that looked like the kind of thing that comes in a plastic bag off the shelf of a grocery store. But it is only a first step.

We who get our fresh, delicious bagels at the Bagel Bakery know this new version is still inferior. It looks nothing like a genuine Bagel Bakery bagel.

For those seeking full respect for the bagel, this is just step one in an ongoing campaign. The bagel has gotten some respect but those of us who are true bagel aficionados, we know it’s not enough.

Welcome to the Bagel Bakery Family

Kimmy Keck and her daughter, Phoenix Bill Hutchinson

Aside from providing customers with quality products, The Bagel Bakery prides itself on the community it has built among its customers throughout the years. Many of our customers are regulars who have made trips to our shop a weekly tradition. Other customers love to come and bring their children for a healthy after school treat. Because this sense of community means so much to all of us, we would like to take the time to highlight just a few of our customers.

  1. Bill Hutchinson has been a loyal customer for approximately 10 years. “I love the sense of community at the Bagel Bakery and how friendly the relationships between the staff and the customers are,” he said.
  1. Kimmy Keck and her daughter, Phoenix, love coming to the Bagel Bakery together for the coffee, the food and the friendly environment.

We at the Bagel Bakery love each one of our customers – those who have been with us for decades and those who are new. We look forward to seeing everyone’s smiling faces every day!

Stop by the Bagel Bakery today and join our bagel-eating, coffee-drinking, fun-loving family!

Meet our Mascot!

Meet our new mascot, Bagelsaurus Rex!

He’s mighty, ferocious and loves a good bagel. He’s green, with tiny arms that can barely fit around a peanut. He is our mascot, Bagelsaurus Rex and he is excited to meet each and every one of our Bagel Bakery friends.

Bagelsaurus Rex wandered into the Bagel Bakery a few weeks ago in search of the best bagel in town and since he found us, he has not wanted to leave! He is a great help with sales and business. He has the grand task of holding up our special of the day. He asked us if he could one day be promoted to cashier, and since we believe that everyone deserves at least one chance, we will begin training him for the job soon.

Although this new bond between Bagelsaurus Rex and the Bagel Bakery transpired only a few weeks ago, we firmly believe that this has the potential to be a life-long bond.

Stop by the Bagel Bakery today to say hi to Bagelsaurus Rex, and to try the special of the day as per his recommendation.

About the Bagel Bakery

About the Bagel Bakery

As of now, most of our customers know and love the Bagel Bakery for its delicious food and its friendly atmosphere, but they don’t know that there is actually so much more to love about us.

First and foremost, the Bagel Bakery has been around for almost 19 years! In 2000 we were a part of the Chesapeake Bagel Bakery Franchise, but then our owner, Ken Rembert decided to take us to become the independent Bagel Bakery. From the beginning, we have taken pride in making each one of our menu-items completely from scratch…. EVEN THE COFFEE!

Every bagel that you purchase from the Bagel Bakery is guaranteed to be freshly and skillfully made by one of our staff. In addition to that, each one of our sandwiches, wraps and melts is hand-made to order with only fresh, quality ingredients. But this is not even the best part! Our coffee is also made in-house, thanks to Ken, who travels annually to Guatemala to import coffee beans while helping the farmers and their families there.

We here at the Bagel Bakery have taken pride in serving our customers and providing them with a welcoming, family-like experience for the past 18 years.

After reading this, if you don’t love us even a little more than you did before, then stop by our store, try some of our freshly brewed coffee and make some great friends; we promise you’ll be hooked!
